Traditionally, the best man speech at a wedding reception is given following the father of the bride and groom, and the maid of honor. While this can have it’s advantages, there is one downside: if you’re going the funny route how do you follow something that is serious. Say the maid of honor pulls out a story that has everyone crying: if your speech is all about laughs, what are you supposed to do? Short answer: stand your ground. Make a comment at the beginning about how great that story was but you want to change it up. Make it like you want to cheer everyone up and make them laugh after the tears. That way people will appreciate what you are saying.
