Application of Different Rockwell Scales
January 8th, 2012 . by adminThere are more than thirty Rockwell scale depending on their application used by metal hardness testers. Cemented carbides uses the A scale along with thin steel. Copper & aluminum alloy, soft steels testing is done by the B scale. Harder steels, cast irons uses scale C. B and C scale mostly covers all sorts of industrial applications generally. Thin steel measurement is carried out by D scale. Magnesium alloys use E scale. For zinc & lead H scale is there. After H the other scale is mainly for plastics & very soft material’s hardness testing. Rockwell scale denotes the indenter type & load.
